WILLIAMSTOWN — The Mount Greylock Regional School Committee approved initial plans for a 2029 Europe trip for its orchestra and chorus program and heard that Williamstown Elementary School earned a state "School of Recognition" honor. Music teachers Patrick O'Connell and Jackie said the trip, following a 2025 tour, would cost an estimated $4,000 per student with a savings plan of about $155 a month starting in November. Committee member Curtis Elfenbein reported Williamstown Elementary's sixth-grade math student growth percentile hit 83.5 percent in 2026, a figure he said he "would reach for every year as a teacher." The committee also selected member Carrie as its delegate to the Massachusetts Association of School Committees annual meeting November 4-6 in Danvers, and opened extended, unresolved discussion on a revised wellness policy covering lunch, recess timing and food-allergy rules.
Longtime member and former chair Christina attended her final meeting.
