Mount Greylock School Committee unanimously adopts $31 million FY27 budget

WILLIAMSTOWN — June 10, 2026 — Mount Greylock Regional School District's School Committee unanimously adopted a $31 million fiscal year 2027 budget and authorized signing of two collective bargaining agreements at its June 10 meeting. The $31,026,041 gross operating budget incorporates a $120,000 amendment added by Williamstown's annual town meeting, intended for a math interventionist at Williamstown Elementary School, and required a fresh vote after the amendment technically voided the original budget document. Finance Subcommittee Chair Carrie Malloy also secured unanimous approval to spend $80,554 in newly received Chapter 70 state funds within FY26 rather than rolling them into reserves. Williamstown Elementary School Principal Ben Torres presented MCAS and iReady data showing high-needs students' math proficiency has fallen from 33 percent to 23 percent since 2019, providing the data rationale for the new position. The committee unanimously approved Superintendent Joe Bergeron's annual evaluation, rating him proficient across most leadership standards and exemplary in management and operations, with Chair Julia Bowen noting the district "has not experienced a more stable period in recent memory."
