Williamstown Select Board Approves Lanesboro Planning Deal, Library Pay Raises

WILLIAMSTOWN — July 10, 2023 — Williamstown Select Board approves shared planning deal with Lanesboro and library pay hikes averaging 25 percent. The board unanimously approved the annual intermunicipal agreement with Lanesboro for planning and land use services provided by Andrew Groff, and the town manager reported that library staff received salary adjustments effective July 1 averaging roughly 25 percent after a salary survey found significant pay gaps. The Finance Committee, meeting just before the board, covered just under $55,000 in snow and ice overruns and approximately $15,000 in collective bargaining legal costs from its reserve fund. Town Manager Bob cautioned that a health inspector vacancy has drawn little response despite extended advertising, warning the board that specialized municipal roles — finance, water and sewer, technology — will grow harder to fill. The board also unanimously granted two one-day liquor licenses to the Clark Art Institute for a July 19 outdoor concert and a July 21 member event, with Robin Scherer of the Clark confirming all servers are TIPS certified.
