Williamstown Adds Electric Utility Van to Town Fleet
The Department of Public Works has added a fully electric utility van to the municipal fleet, while town officials continue preparations for the September 1 State Primary Election.

The Department of Public Works has purchased a fully electric utility van for facilities staff to use while traveling between municipal building locations, according to a Town of Williamstown announcement. The purchase is part of the town's broader push toward sustainability, following Williamstown's designation as a Green Community.
Town officials also published the first issue of ConnectWilliamstown, a new monthly newsletter covering municipal happenings and community news, according to the town website. Residents can find early voting and voter registration information for the upcoming September 1 State Primary and November 3 General Election, including dates, hours, and registration deadlines, per the town's announcement.
Separately, the town noted that Massachusetts has issued an emergency order classifying kratom, a substance widely sold in smoke shops, convenience stores, and gas stations, as a Schedule I controlled substance, citing public health concerns about its availability statewide.

The State Primary Election will be held Tuesday, September 1, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Williamstown Elementary School Gymnasium, 115 Church St.
