Vote by mail applications due to Town Clerk by August 25
Town officials are reminding residents that 2026 Vote by Mail Applications must reach the Town Clerk's office by 5 p.m. on August 25, while public works crews resume the paused Thomas Street water main replacement project this week.

The Town Clerk's office is urging residents to watch their mail for a 2026 Vote by Mail Application ahead of the September 1 primary and November 3 general election. Completed applications must reach the Clerk's office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, and the town has also published an early voting and voter registration schedule with dates, hours, and registration deadlines for the fall elections.
The Department of Public Works has resumed its Thomas Street water main replacement project after pausing construction from Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23. Separately, the town continues to caution drivers that oversize and wide truck loads on Route 7 in South Williamstown should expect narrow lanes south of Five Corners as crews complete a bridge resurfacing project through mid-August.
The town also flagged an air quality alert for the northern Berkshires, noting that smoke from wildfires to the north and west had pushed the Air Quality Index above 100, a level considered unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Looking ahead, the town is preparing for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Spruces Park on Main Street, a free, town-wide celebration of community and public safety.

The Williamstown Public Library's Creative Writing Club met in the community room this week, part of the library's ongoing slate of community programming.
