WILLIAMSTOWN -- Margaret Lindley Park reopened on June 29 after bacterial counts in the park's pond returned to safe levels, the town announced. The pond is open for swimming from Memorial Day through Labor Day and is staffed by a ranger during the summer season. The park, operated by the Williamstown Conservation Commission, is available for hiking year-round, dawn to dusk. Dogs are not permitted.

The town also announced free Fitness Court classes every Wednesday in July. The Fitness Court is located along the Mohican Recreational Path, a 2.5-mile paved trail following the Hoosic River from Syndicate Road to The Spruces Park that is open for walking and biking. Town Hall was closed July 3 and the Transfer Station was closed July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
