Conservation Commission Approves Three Compliance Certificates, Reorganizes Leadership

WILLIAMSTOWN — July 13, 2023 — Williamstown Conservation Commission voted unanimously Thursday to install Lauren Stevens as chair, replacing Tim Carr, who cited travel obligations after roughly two years in the role. The board also approved three certificates of compliance in a row — for completed wetlands projects at 2148 Green River Road, 905 and 935 Hancock Road, and 441 Hopper Road — with civil engineer John Dupres of Trinity Engineering presenting all three. A request for determination of applicability at 133 Adams Road, covering a residential addition in the buffer zone of an intermittent stream and vegetated wetland, was approved with conditions including erosion controls and a planting requirement of two to three native wetlands trees to mark the property's no-mow boundary. Member Corey Campbell was named vice chair after declining the top post, pledging to be ready for the chair role next year. The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation separately withdrew a pending determination application, with president Greg Islund opting to file a more detailed notice of intent instead.
